THOMAS SPORRER
A cosmopolitan outlook is also part of Thomas Sporrer’s perspective, not only as a soloist, chamber player, and orchestral musician, but also as a drummer and percussionist in a variety of bands and projects. Under the guidance of Stefan Blum, Jörg Hannabach, Thomas Höfs and Guido Rückel, he completed his studies in classical percussion with distinction at the Nuremberg-Augsburg University of Music in 2009.
In 2007 he was appointed to the position of solo timpanist at the State Opera in Cairo. In 2011 he met the Japanese Taiko virtuoso Takuya Taniguchi. Together with Carl Amadeus Hiller he founded the formation DRUMATURGIA.
Thomas Sporrer is a member of Martin Grubinger’s Percussive Planet Ensemble, and of the Vivi Vassileva Quartet.
